Quilt racks and what not ...!

Last June Wendy from Snippets of a Quilter posted on her Instagram account the cutest little wall quilt rack I had ever seen. Don't you just love the way she decorates?

Naturally, I had to ask her if she could send me a picture of the front of the quit rack so that I could have DH replicate it. Being the sweetheart that she is, she actually took pictures of the quilt rack empty and send along measurements! Wow! It made his job so much easier.

Here is DH's version of the rack using Wendy's measurements.

I have an order in for a smaller version of the quilt rack to accommodate  the smallest quilts, which is approximately 15" wide.  I didn't want to rummage for larger quilts and just had to have it decorated for the picture!  Once my smaller rack is made, I will look for larger size quilts for this one. I'm sure I have lots in a closet somewhere! ;)

Thanks for stopping by! Cheers!

Reading Between the Wine ....!

I've joined a book club! I thought it would help me get out of this funk ... and get out of the house a bit more.  I'm such a home body! I know, you would never think that of me. lol

You've got to admit, the book club name is so appropriate pour moi! I do love wine .... it's the French in me!

Last night, we discussed Splinters of Light by Rachael Herron. Great book! It is the story of two sisters, fraternal twins, their relationship and the transformation it undergoes when one of the sisters learn that she has early onset of Alzheimer.

In the beginning I had a difficult time getting into it, the book was all over the place. I kept having to refer back to see where the heck she was. You see, I hadn't read the synopsis. The author often places you in Nora's mind, as she attempts to cope with what is going on with her health. Nora is a journalist and the mother of a 16 year daughter. Once Nora learns of her diagnose, you have a clear understanding how her mind is working, the changes that are taking place, her concerns for her daughter, Ellie, in relation to Nora's twin sister, Marianne. Goodness, I think I cried throughout the rest of the book!

I'm not one to read a lot of adult fiction, so this book club is good for me. It forces me to read books that I would not normally pick up and ... enjoy a glass of wine when we have our gathering. The fiction I tend to read are more in the children's category. I recently finished Grenshaw by Katherine Applegate.

I have to admit, the cover attracted me! What's not to like ... a kid with a baseball cap and a cat! What I like about children's books is that they deal with complex issues in a non complex way. Adults tend to complicate things, over analyze, over think everything making the situation worse than it seems. I can much better deal with a kid's mind than an adult's mind! Hum... what does that say about me? lol Yea, I haven't really grown up yet, have I?!  Cheers!

I'm in a funk ....!

I've been in a funk as of late and cannot seem to shake it out. All that means is that I am not quilting ... at all! I haven't even turned my sewing machine on for the past 2 months!! It's not that I don't have anything to finish ... I'm just in a funk.

What this means is that I've been doing a lot of hand embroidery. Yep, that's my go to work when my mind needs to empty out. I've started this cute little piece - When Witches Fly

You've probably noticed that I've been in a funk for quite some time. One of the problems with that is .... I have a lot of hand embroidery panels that needs to be finished. I either need someone to piece all of my work or I need to get out of this funk! Sigh!

To alleviate the issue, I decided to work on towels. They are already finished, nothing needs to be done except hand embroider a design. It doesn't become, yet, another UFO. What a relief!

So, I stitched up these towels from the pattern Victory Garden.

And ...

I just love how they turned out!

Do you think it would matter if I have a gazillion hand embroidered hand towels? It is my understanding that one can never have too many dish towels! ;)

Thanks for stopping by! Cheers!
