It is allowing me to create a movie, which is much better than the alternative. I am looking for a way to create a slide show! I think I'm getting there!
Anyway, the blocks are from a book titled The Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt by Laurie Aaron Hird. Each block, and there are 111 blocks, was inspired from letters submitted by women for a contest offered by the Farmer's Wife magazine back in 1922. The question they had to answer was "If you had a daughter of marriageable age, would you, in the light of your own experience, want her to marry a farmer?" The entries are fascinating to read.
The quilt is being offered as a block of the month at Fibre Junction.
Given that the creator of this sampler quilt chose to hand pieced this project, hence templates are offered, I have taken on the task of writing the rotary cutting instructions.
As a bonus, I get to make this quilt! ;o) Well, okay, I'm testing my written instructions! lol

Love the blocks you have made .... great fabric selections! Mine is made, but I am still trying to decide how I want to quilt it. Do I quilt each block differently, do all over large feathers or a pantograph? Have you decided how you will quilt yours?
I have this book too and have not started the quilt as of yet. When I do I think I will hand piece it as I did both of my Dear Jane's - somehow it seems appropriate to do it like that. When I make this quilt I will do a scrappy version with white for the background I think.

Fabulous blocks, Carole. I have been contemplating those myself and I bought the book. You should get a quilt along group going to get all of us in gear!!!
HELP me...........I brought the book a few years ago and looked in it and thought OMG.........no progress here since except to read some of the stories...........
Wow - you go girl - your blocks are great. I have the book, but am already working on The Civil War Love Letter blocks (you can see them on my blog) and I can not take on another project. Look forward to seeing more of your blocks in the future!
